Gordon Schlichting
told stories about John Blackbird and his accomplishments and adventures. Karen
Blackbird, John’s wife, was brought onstage where they gave her a gift. She
then went and her son, Joe, revealed a shadowbox frame with the last two
ribbons that John and his dogs received. There was not a dry eye in the house
and we all felt the emotion that had been conveyed.
