We arrived at the Missouri State Fairgrounds and convened in
the Agricultural Building where we found lots of activities going on …
The Handlers were collecting their handler bags, bibs and
catalog programs. The MARC had paired with the Retriever Outfitter folks to
make both pre-sales of custom garment orders as well as a selection of
tee-shirts and golf shirts. The logos embroidered were the MARC club logo along
with the John O. Blackbird Memorial logo.
Brenda Neil’s Lucky Lab Pins had many custom items for sale
including door mats, stainless steel mugs and tumblers, pillows and her line of
retriever-oriented jewelry. Macy Swift, MARC Hunt Test Secretary, staffed the
booth in Brenda’s absence.
Retriever News was on site as well with staff members Managing Editor,
Tina Styan, and her colleague, Gwen Jones. They were welcoming the handlers and
offering subscriptions and sample magazines.
